Detroit Lions Cut Terrion Arnold After He Allegedly Watched Three Men Beaten at Gunpoint on a Live Stream

Theft From an Airbnb Leads to a Kidnapping Plot

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested June 24, 2026, on multiple felony charges after Tampa Police alleged he orchestrated a violent kidnapping and armed robbery targeting three men he believed were responsible for stealing from him.

According to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, Arnold’s group had rented an Airbnb in Largo, Florida, when more than $250,000 worth of personal property - including approximately $100,000 in cash and an $80,000 necklace - was stolen from the property. Arnold and his associates suspected the private driver who had worked for them during the stay, along with two of the driver’s associates. Rather than wait for police to investigate the theft, prosecutors allege, Arnold directed a scheme to bring the three men in for a confrontation.

Three Men Lured to an Apartment and Beaten at Gunpoint

Prosecutors allege that co-defendants used a woman to lure the driver and his two associates to an apartment, where they were ambushed by members of Arnold’s group. Court records indicate that two of the men were pistol-whipped and held at gunpoint, and that a third man arrived at the apartment separately and was also assaulted. All three had visible injuries. The confrontation lasted nearly an hour, according to police testimony.

Arnold was not inside the apartment when the assault took place. According to prosecutors, he was in a vehicle en route to the location and was observing the assault via a live stream set up by one of his co-defendants. A Tampa Police detective testified at Arnold’s pretrial detention hearing that he was able to see what was happening in real time as the confrontation unfolded.

Charges and the Lions’ Response

Arnold surrendered to authorities voluntarily on Wednesday night and was initially denied bond. He was charged with four counts of armed robbery and four counts of kidnapping - charges that each carry potential sentences of up to life in prison. He was one of seven people arrested in connection with the incident.

At a pretrial detention hearing on June 29, Hillsborough County Judge Christopher Sabella established probable cause to move the case forward and set Arnold’s bond at $1 million, denying prosecutors’ request that he be held without bond. The conditions of his release required him to surrender his passport, have no contact with co-defendants or witnesses, and remain confined to his Tallahassee residence except for legal and football obligations. Hours after the hearing, the Detroit Lions announced in a brief statement that they had released Arnold from the team.

Arnold Denies All Involvement

Arnold’s attorney, R. Timothy Jansen, issued a statement on behalf of his client categorically denying any involvement in the incidents underlying the charges. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” the statement read. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”

The statement added that Arnold looked forward to his day in court and was confident the judicial process would lead to his vindication. A county prosecutor, however, alleged during the pretrial hearing that Arnold’s girlfriend had directed a woman to “act as bait” to lure one of the victims to the apartment, and that Arnold was aware of the plan and its execution in real time.

A Career That Had Just Reached the Starting Level

Arnold, 23, was a second-year cornerback who had established himself as a starting member of the Lions’ secondary during his first NFL season. He was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Alabama. His release leaves the Lions without one of their projected starters at the position heading into training camp.

The criminal case is now moving toward trial in Hillsborough County, Florida. Arnold has posted bond and is no longer in custody as of late June. The case involves seven defendants in total, with co-defendants Lyndell Hudson II and Christion Williams among those who have been implicated in the physical confrontation inside the apartment. The next hearing date has not been publicly announced.
