South Carolina Grandson Charged After Elderly Couple Found Dead

Larry Moore, 76, and his wife Sandra Moore, 75, were found dead inside their home near Westminster, South Carolina, on the evening of January 15, 2026, after a family member called 911 when repeated attempts to reach the couple went unanswered. The Oconee County Coroner’s Office confirmed both deaths were homicides. Larry Moore died from multiple stab wounds to the torso and neck; Sandra Moore died from manual strangulation. Authorities said the couple’s last known contact was earlier in the week. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office described the incident as isolated and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Arrest

Levi Kevin Jones, 19, of Westminster, South Carolina - the Moores’ grandson - was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Jones was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and remained jailed pending a bond hearing. It was unclear whether he had entered a plea or retained an attorney. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive.

Who They Were

Larry and Sandra Moore were longtime members of Calvary Church and were described by fellow congregants as the “backbones” of their community. They had operated Moore & Moore Fish Camp for decades before retiring in 2016. A family member described them as “two of the most godly people” devoted to a life of service. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with home security or doorbell camera footage from the days surrounding January 15 to contact investigators.
