Kim Kardashian Commits to Retaking the Bar Exam

Kim Kardashian has confirmed she intends to retake the California bar
exam after disclosing in November 2025 that she did not pass it on her
first full attempt, according to BuzzFeed. In a recent interview with
Complex, she addressed her plans directly, saying she would never be
able to forgive herself if she did not try again.

Kardashian's legal journey began in 2019, motivated by her late father
Robert Kardashian Sr.'s legal career and by her own criminal justice
advocacy work, which gained public attention when she helped persuade
then-President Donald Trump to grant clemency to Alice Marie Johnson in
2018. She passed the California First-Year Law Students' Examination
— known as the baby bar — on her fourth attempt in 2021 before
sitting for the full bar exam in July 2025.

The November Setback

After results were released in November 2025, Kardashian disclosed
publicly that she had not passed, stating on Instagram Stories: "Six
years into this legal journey, and I'm still fully committed until I
pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even
greater determination," according to E! Online.

She described being "really close to passing" and said she did not
intend to make excuses for the outcome. In the Complex interview, she
initially characterized the attempt as "one and done" due to time and
energy constraints — but reversed course the following day. "The very
next day, I resumed studying and haven't stopped since," she told the
outlet, per BuzzFeed.

Timing and Privacy

Kardashian was candid about the uncertainty around when she would retake
the exam. "I need to carve out the time," she said in the Complex
interview. "But I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't try
again. I can't let this opportunity slip away. I didn't come this far
just to quit," according to BuzzFeed.

She also indicated a preference for keeping her next attempt more
private. "I think I want to keep my head down a bit more, and not
broadcast it to the world," she said, noting that bar exam results in
California are publicly posted, which created external pressure during
her previous attempt.

A Continuing Advocacy Track

Beyond the exam itself, Kardashian has maintained a presence in criminal
justice reform conversations throughout her legal studies. Her advocacy
work — focused primarily on wrongful convictions and sentencing reform
— has continued alongside the demands of her business portfolio, which
includes SKIMS and her media commitments.

The bar exam timeline remains open. What is not in question, based on
her public statements across multiple interviews, is her stated
commitment to continue.
