Manson Follower Convicted in Two Killings Dies in Prison at 83

Bruce Davis, a follower of Charles Manson who was convicted for his role in two 1969 killings, died at age 83 while serving a life sentence in California.

The Solano County Coroner’s Office confirmed Davis’ death to Fox News. He was serving his sentence at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville.

Davis Was Convicted in Two 1969 Killings

Davis was sentenced to life in prison in 1972 for his role in the deaths of Hollywood stuntman Donald “Shorty” Shea and musician Gary Hinman.

Fox News reported that Davis was not convicted as the direct killer of either man. He also was not accused of participating in the home-invasion killings that included actress Sharon Tate and four other victims.

He Spent More Than Five Decades in Prison

Davis remained incarcerated for more than 50 years after the sentence was imposed. Officials did not immediately provide additional details about the circumstances of his death.

The coroner’s office confirmed only that he had died.

Case Ends With Davis Still Serving Life

Davis died while still serving the life sentence tied to the two killings.

His death closes the custody history of one of the surviving figures associated with the Manson group, decades after the crimes that made the group nationally known.
