Restaurant Manager Charged After 911 Call in Lobby

Miami police charged restaurant manager Stefano Cremasco-Cicero with second-degree murder with a weapon after officers responded to a 911 call from the lobby of his Brickell high-rise and found his mother dead in his apartment. Cremasco-Cicero, 36, was arrested after the Sept. 4 response at the Solitair Brickell Apartments, according to Local 10.

Officers were dispatched at about 4:47 a.m. for a request for police assistance. Police encountered Cremasco-Cicero in the lobby and later entered his 47th-floor apartment, where Miami Fire Rescue pronounced his mother dead shortly after 5 a.m.

The victim had been visiting from Mexico, Local 10 reported. Her name and age had not been publicly released as of Sept. 7.

Food Delivery Driver Assisted With Address

An arrest report cited by Local 10 states that a food delivery driver arrived at the building while Cremasco-Cicero was in the lobby. He asked her to call 911, then placed the call himself and handed her the phone so she could provide the building address to dispatchers.

The driver waited until officers arrived and later turned the phone over to police. The report does not indicate that she was involved in the events inside the apartment.

Cremasco-Cicero told responding officers that he had acted in self-defense, according to the report. That claim is part of the investigation and has not been adjudicated.

Surveillance and Search Evidence

Investigators reviewed building surveillance and key-fob information while reconstructing the timeline. Local 10 reported that video showed Cremasco-Cicero and his mother returning to the building together at about 10:32 p.m. the night before police were called.

Police said later surveillance showed Cremasco-Cicero moving through the elevators alone during the early morning. Detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment and collected items they said were relevant to the homicide investigation.

Cremasco-Cicero invoked his right to counsel, according to Local 10. The available reporting does not establish a motive, and police have not publicly released a full account of what occurred inside the apartment.

Building Access Records Were Reviewed

The arrest report says detectives also examined key-fob information from the high-rise. Local 10 reported that the access records were consistent with surveillance showing Cremasco-Cicero and his mother returning to the building together the night before the 911 call.

Investigators learned that Cremasco-Cicero and his wife had been listed on the apartment lease since July 2024. His wife told detectives she was in France for a wedding and that his mother was visiting from Mexico.

Police executed a search warrant at the apartment after the initial response. Detectives collected clothing and other physical evidence described in the arrest report. Those items, the surveillance video and the building-access records are part of the evidence cited in the homicide investigation.

Murder Charge and Court Status

Miami-Dade prosecutors filed one count of second-degree murder with a weapon. A judge denied bond at a Sept. 5 court appearance and set a pretrial detention hearing for Tuesday, Local 10 reported. County court records also showed an immigration hold while Cremasco-Cicero remained in custody.

The case was assigned to Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Ellen Sue Venzer, according to Local 10. The detention hearing will address whether Cremasco-Cicero remains jailed while the prosecution proceeds; it will not determine guilt on the murder charge.

The charge is an allegation. Cremasco-Cicero has not been convicted and is entitled to the presumption of innocence as the case proceeds.

The case remained pending as of Sept. 7. The next formal development is the detention hearing. Additional evidence, defense filings and any plea will be addressed through the Miami-Dade court process.
